I once asked a friend why he wish to be an entrepreneur. He replied,

“Baba, me won dey go office anytime I want oh. I no like that kin tin wey I go wake up early come dey rush to work like say I won go rescue chiboke girls”.

I couldn’t help it but laugh really hard.

“I want to be an entrepreneur” is not a statement for lazy people. If you think successful entrepreneurs are bunch of lazy people sitting down doing nothing but yet making millions if not billions of dollars, then you are on a long thing.

All successful entrepreneurs are hard workers.

As young as I am, my earliest time to hit my bed is 1 am everyday. That’s if I will even sleep at all that night. My nights have been the best part of my day for a long time now. It is a time I find it easy to study, research, comprehend, pray, meditate and do anything I can’t do in the noise of the day.

I hear people say “I want to work smarter not harder”. This makes me smile. If you are among the people who go about saying this, thinking being smart is a way to avoid hard work, you must really be a comedian.

People who are successful are both smart at doing their work yet hardworking. In actual fact, only hardworking entrepreneurs doing their work smartly become successful ones. If you want to be financially independent, you have to forget the jargons about not working hard because you are actually going to work harder and smarter than others.

One great businessman, Brian Tracy said,

“Successful people are people who do what unsuccessful people are not willing to do”.

You won’t see unsuccessful people doing stuffs like waking up early to start the day, staying late nights to get more work done, reading books e.t.c.
One major cause of failure is plain laziness and majority are. Laziness is one main reason why you will finish your first degree and go for the second degree or masters for no specific purpose but for a job in future.

Pls don’t get me wrong. You might be passionate about education but believe me, laziness to start something for money is often the major reason many decide to further their education after their first degree. Only few actually need it.

Some people can’t read a small book from start to finish and yet you see these same people staying hours in front of a TV screen, watching movie series, playing video games, chatting with friends or arguing about all sort of things they have no control over, like sport and politics.

I love this quote from Donald Trump which says,

“People settle for mediocrity because they are lazy”.

I hear a lot of people complaining about how they are not talented about anything. One excuse for remaining a failure is this. The truth is “if you are willing to work hard at anything and learn, you will get results and never regret it”.

Stephen King said,

  • “Talent is cheaper than salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work”.

There is no magic way to stop being that lazy person you are than making a decision not to be. If you really want to be financially fullfilled as an entrepreneur, you have to develop the urge to resist laziness.

You can’t keep gambling your life on luck like you dey do nairabet. There is no luck in business. It is either you know what you are doing or you don’t and only smart hard workers get to have it.

Thomas Jefferson said and I quote,

  • “I am a greater believer in luck and I find that the harder I work, the more I have of it”.

That is exactly the way it works. Lot of luck comes with hard work.

If you have been lazy, make a decision now to put in more efforts into building your life.

If people know how I hard I had to work to grow my mastery, it would not seem so wonderful at all” – Michelangelo, one of world’s greatest artists.
